the              First Appointment

exam and x-ray...

If the online intake forms were completed, the first appointment will begin in the Exam room. We do offer paper forms for those who do not wish to complete the forms online. We will collect the necessary personal and health history information. If you choose to utilize your insurance, we will collect that information as well. Insurance coverage can be verified by calling the number on the back of your card. Elkhorn Family Chiroprcatic is not in network with any insurance companies.

After the appropriate forms have been completed, we will begin our new patient examination. All new patients will receive a nervous system evaluation and digital radiographs of the spine (Radiographs will not be taken infants or pregnant women). After the Exam and x-rays, we will schedule your follow up appointment to review the findings.

No chiropractic adjustment will occur at the first appointment.

the            second appointment

Report of findings:

At this appointment, we will review the findings of the nervous system evaluation and X-rays. We will discuss what these findings mean to your health, and answer any questions you may have. If you are a candidate for Chiropractic, we will discuss a recommended plan for care. At this time we will also discuss the cost of treatment, insurance coverage, estimated out of pocket expense, etc...

After agreeing to treatment, we will begin care.

the  adjustment

what to expect...

Before the adjustment, we will show you the different features of our adjusting table. This is to show you any motion and noises you may feel and hear during the adjustment. We will then ask you to lie face down on the adjusting table, so the doctor may check your spine for subluxations.

Subluxation:

A subluxation is a misalignment of a vertebra, that places pressure on your nervous system and interferes with the communication from your brain to your body.

The adjustment will help your body correct the subluxation and restore vital nerve function. To check for subluxation, the doctor will palpate (feel) and motion each spinal segment. When a subluxation is detected, the doctor will adjust that specific segment. This process will continue the entire length of the spine until all segments have been checked and adjusted appropriately.

The adjusting technique will vary patient to patient. You are always in charge of your own health, each adjustment can be modified to your comfort. No adjustment will take place or continue without your consent.
